Turtles 🐢🐢🐢🐢

Today we visited the turtle sanctuary. We go here every time we come to Bali. We like to go to support them and help them. When I get back to school I am going to try and raise some money for them with a real choices challenge. They rely on donations so I think it would be awesome to help them out. They don't charge for anyone to visit.

They rescue turtle eggs off of the tourist beaches where it's impossible for them to survive. They buy them off local people to avoid them being eaten.

The eggs are looked after here.

Most of the large turtles being cared for here are injured. They have been brought to the sanctuary by fisherman and sometimes the police (who have recovered them from illegal fishermen). Many have lost body parts,  some have lost parts of their flippers to a boat motor, some have cracked or missing parts to their shell and some have consumed something that made them unwell, for example a plastic bag.

Once they are strong and healed they are released back to the ocean.
There are three types of turtles cared for here they are the green sea turtle (endangered), the olive ridley sea turtle (vulnerable) and the hawksbill sea turtle (critical).

These are the newest baby turtles.

These are what they  call 'land turtles'. They look similar to tortoises but they are different. We were allowed to help out with the feeding of them.

We love the turtles 😃
